A few meters away from the Kaštela's coast, several underwater archaeological sites attract divers.

The most famous underwater attraction is the ancient sunken city of Sikuli-Resnik.

The former ancient city of Sikuli (Siculi) is in today's Resnik (Kaštel Štafilić). According to archaeological research, Sikuli was a desirable and safe place to live. It was built according to plan with adequately laid out streets and houses next to the modern harbour. The conditions for living in this area were ideal - a mild Mediterranean climate, fertile Kaštela's soil, and drinking water. The inhabitants were engaged in agriculture, olive growing, and wine growing. The ancient port, which is now submerged, was once vital for sea transport.

For more details about the ancient sunken city of Sikuli, we suggest visiting the Museum of the City of Kaštela and the Sikuli winery, which was named after the underwater city.

Apart from the ancient sunken city of Sikuli, underwater attractions include the sunken castles of Andreis and Quarco, which belonged to Trogir nobles, and the newest site of Trstenik. The Trstenik site is in today's Kaštel Sućurac and is known as a significant site of the remains of underwater amphorae.

Near Kaštela (2 nautical miles from Trogir), there is also the underwater Way of the Cross with life-sized human-sized sculptures. At a depth of 4 to 8 m, 52 statues are distributed in 14 Stations of the Cross. At a depth of 10 m, there is an imposing statue of Jesus, which symbolizes the resurrection.

The Kaštela subsea (and its surroundings) is ideal for diving (for professionals and amateurs). Contact us with confidence for a diving offer.
